Summary of Audience Awareness Article

In this article, the author is skeptical whether young children can develop a sense of audience or not. She suggests that children as writers gradually develop an audience awareness with time and practice. Many studies were done on children of different ages and their awareness of their intended audience. They were told to write to a friend, teacher, the children wrote more words and less slang for the teacher and professor and more slang and less words for the friend. This is an example of audience awareness.
